17/52

Owen:  a lopsided merry-go-round makes the perfect launching pad for a spaceship.
Everly:  the 'plinter' is out and her finger is feeling much better.

This week so far:

Stella - so beautiful.

April Showers

Jon is good for me.

I naturally would not consider buying raincoats for the kids.  And if the thought had crossed my mind I probably would have dismissed it as slightly frivolous.  Who knows why...we don't have a ton of long, grey, drizzly days...they are slightly more expensive...I can't remember them from my childhood (which doesn't necessarily mean we didn't have them)...probably bits and pieces of faulty reasoning.

Then, one evening Jon clicked two coats into his Amazon cart.

We've already used them several times.  Splashing our way around the paths and finding drips and drops and puddles that we would never have explored otherwise.

Dad certainly knew best in this case.

Thank goodness.

Rain or shine

Owen:  takes advantage of his new rain coat and splashes in every puddle we found
Ever: wants to be as big as Owen so that she can climb trees too

15/52

Owen: a monkey in the trees
Ever: fishing

Some weeks I look back through the pictures I've taken and feel that they must be from months ago.  A few days before these it was snowing and windy and cold.  A few days after and everything is bright green and flowers are everywhere.  Those few days between seasons seem to exist in another time altogether.

Favorite 15/52's
clara and joao (who can resist newborns in towels?)

14/52

Owen:  proud of himself for learning to enjoy green pepper.  Since shifting our eating habits around a bit we've seen the  kids expand their 'likes' quite a bit.

Everly: sous chef - helping me make scrambled eggs.

My favorites this week:
Ruby's night time illustration
Caper's reflection
Eloise
Lauren's boy's books - such a great idea for capturing the kids reading interests!

The last snow

I feel safer posting this now that the forecast is shows a string of 70s next week.

But we really did enjoy this last snow.  A whole day of big fluffy white flakes.  Waking up to trees that look frosted takes me back to feeling little-kid excited every time.

^ welcoming the day.

^ frosted flakes for breakfast

^ spring...you were trying so hard

^ snowball fight

^ Jon gets clobbered (I love that the kids are old enough to really play in the snow.)

^ early morning shovel around the lakes

^ These almost look black and white.  It was so peaceful.

^ This one is such a fun dad to be around.

^ home and warm but still watching the snow.

13/52

I love these two photos for the memories.

Owen:  this boy will never complain about snow in spring.

Everly:  the first ponytail (aka pony hair).

These photos are from two weeks ago.  Just late going up.  Somehow the change of season has led to a shift in activities around here.  But it seems like balance and rhythm are easing back in.

Owen:  playing with our new kiwi crate activities from Aunt Leslie.  He's a spy pretending to be king (on the phone, of course).

Everly:  pokey puppy again - playing in the woods on our first hike of spring!  We all have eager eagle eyes watching for any sign of green.
