Week 13

Week 13 picture! Maybe starting to podulate a little bit?

And a Jon picture. I'll post some of these occasionally so you can keep track of his progress as well. Jon's in the full swing of the summer hockey season and getting buffer all the time. ;)

Not much new this week. Just continuing to move along. We met my parents in Baltimore yesterday morning and spent the afternoon and lunch just meandering around town. It's so nice to be able to do day trips and see them. Baltimore is such a great city too - I think we could easily live there if the commute was better!

We also had Mark and Marcia Headley's baby shower yesterday! I didn't take any pictures...but here is a picture of the couple at Omo and Lisa's wedding in Trinidad from May.

Thoughts on fatherhood...

I was thinking recently about what it will mean to be a father, and I am beginning to realize the significant change it will bring to my life. Being a project manager and the captain of the hockey team has shown me how your 'team' will basically work and function as a reflection of how you are working or functioning. If I am upbeat about how the project is going, so will the developers. If I play hard and keep my emotions in check on the ice, so will the other players on the team. If not, the results are a crap-shoot.

How much more so when it's my own impressionable child who is looking to me for guidance and patterns to follow?

I look forward to this challenge with great excitement and soberness at the same time... I plan to have lots of fun with the kids, but also to be aware of how I represent God and manhood before them. Between heartbeats and strollers, I really look forward to us raising incredible kids.

Week 12

Here is a picture at week 12. There's not much to see yet - just a little waist thickening. :) I'm hoping that keeping a record of my "podular-ness" will be a fun way to remember the different stages of pregnancy.

So I'm officially 12 weeks - which means "Hello second trimester!" Supposedly this is when you get more energy, feel better, get in touch with the baby, and all that good stuff. I'm ready - bring it on! Thankfully though the last few weeks have been going well - the sickness is easing and I've been able to start taking small naps at work which really helps. Yay little red couch! (I'll have to honor my little office couch with it's own blog entry and picture some day - it's a life saver.)

As you can see - Jon's in full baby mode. Keep checking back to get an idea of what new baby item we're pondering each week.

Me likey!

Now is this not the coolest stroller ever...

Am I giving you all a hint-hint? The answer is: Yes!

Here's the link to the website: http://www.bumbleride.com/collection2008/indie.php

I guess you're officially getting into being a parent when you get super excited about a stroller... yup, I'm there. :)

Baby Doc visit #2

Yesterday we went for our second visit to the baby doctor... well, I guess it's officially the third since Emily went once without me. But my second visit lol. Anyways... here are some 'action' pics...

On the way in...

Walking towards the office... notice the "pregnancy glow"

Our doctor is Andrea Williams...

A candid shot just moments before we heard the little one's heart beating... amazing!

Doc said that Em 'passed' with flying colors... that's my lady!

Wherefore art thou iPhone?

We got up early... hurried to get out of the house... excited with the possibility of landing one of the coolest new gadgets since, well, the last iPhone.  But it was not to be.  With lines stretching around the corner at TWO different stores, I guess we will have to wait to order and have it shipped to us.  :-/

The upshot is, we got into work early and therefore get to leave early... on a Friday.  Not too shabby!

Poisoned!

Ok, not really... more like poison-ivyed.  Our landlady asked me to cut down a number of trees by the pool this past week.  I was feeling rather manly after managing to chop down 5 trees (okay, some were only a couple inches thick in diameter, but that axe was dull!)... and everything seemed fine.  The next morning I was itchy like a mad man.

Now, I've never had poison ivy before... and I actually thought I wasn't allergic.  Boy was I wrong.  And those blisters are still driving me crazy.  I'll be wearing total body cover next time I try to mimic Paul Bunyan.

Now for something completely unrelated...

here's my hockey team after we won the spring league championship ('08).  Obviously, that's me on the right... my first season as captain.  It was fun.. but now I'm tired :)

you can see the score (8 - 5) there in the background... and summer starts Monday!
